Eczema in kids is a common problem many parents face. When my son was a baby I noticed little bumps started developing on his face. As a new mom, I didn’t know what to do, so of course, I started to worry. I asked my grandmother and she said it was baby acne and it would go away. After a few weeks, the bumps were still present and new marks began to show up.  I also noticed the skin on his legs was unusually dry and began to take on a scaly look.

At his 3 month checkup, I asked the doctor about his skin and she told me it was eczema. Eczema is an inflammation of the skin.  It can develop in kids and causes the skin to be really dry and develop an itchy rash like appearance. She said that eczema in kids was common and I should give him a warm bath and follow it up with a good moisturizer. She also suggested washing his clothes in a fragrance-free laundry detergent.

She recommended that I use a moisturizer containing oatmeal. Oatmeal helps soothe the itch that comes with  eczema in kids.

So when my baby girl began to develop a similar looking rash to the one my son had years ago, I knew exactly how to treat it. With consistency and a good regimen, her eczema was cleared and controlled in no time. I give her a warm bath using the Aveeno body wash then add the Aveeno lotion to her damp skin. I love how the lotion completely absorbs into her skin without leaving a greasy finish. If her skin needs a little extra love I then add the Aquaphor healing ointment to seal in the moisture.
