Is the Amazon Influencer Program Still Worth It in 2025?

The Amazon Influencer Program has been buzzing with popularity as a potential goldmine for creating a steady income stream. But is it still a viable option in 2024? Let’s dig into the pros and cons, give you the lowdown on getting started, and see if this could be the right fit for you.

What Exactly is the Amazon Influencer Program?

Before we talk about whether it’s worth it, let’s quickly recap what the Amazon Influencer Program is. Essentially, it’s an affiliate-like program that allows you to earn commissions by sharing products you love with your audience.

Once accepted, you get your own Amazon storefront where you can create lists of your favorite products, and you earn from any purchases made through your links.

Keep in mind that you can become an Amazon influencer or become an Amazon affiliate, which are two different programs. And only Amazon influencers have the option to create an on-page Amazon storefront.

Why Consider the Amazon Influencer Program?

Pros:

  1. Passive Income Potential: Once your videos and product links are out there, they can continue earning you commissions over time. It’s the kind of passive income stream that just hums along in the background.

  1. Audience Requirement: You do need an existing social media following. Amazon checks for active engagement before accepting influencers.
  2. Opaque Algorithms: Unlike platforms like YouTube, Amazon’s placement algorithms aren’t as transparent. This can make optimizing your placements more challenging.
  3. Limited Support: Getting personalized help from Amazon can be tough, although resources like Influencer University are improving this.

How to Get Started

Step 1: Build Your Audience

The first step is to grow an engaged audience. TikTok is a great platform for this, as it’s relatively easy to gain followers quickly in 2024. Or you can build a loyal following by starting a blog or starting a YouTube channel.

Step 2: Apply to the Program

Once you have a decent following, apply to the Amazon Influencer program. There’s no set number of followers needed, but being active and engaging is key.

Step 3: Create Content

Start with what you’re passionate about. Create videos or lists featuring products you love and use. Remember, authenticity is your best friend here!

Is It Worth It? My Take

In a word—yes. If you’re prepared to put in the effort, the Amazon Influencer Program offers a fantastic opportunity to earn passive income. However, it does require consistency and a certain level of hustle. Over time, your content can continue to pay off, much like how evergreen YouTube content works.

But remember, competition is rising. The earlier you start, the better positioned you’ll be to carve out your niche. Consistency is crucial, and those willing to outwork others are likely to see the best results.
