5 Ways to Find a Work from Home Job

June 30, 2020 · In: Work from Home

Working from home has become more popular than ever before. Many companies operate with an entirely virtual staff while others are just starting to embrace a virtual workforce. If you’re looking for a job to stay at home with your kids, supplement your full time income or make some extra money, now is the time to get your resume out there and secure the perfect position. This is how to find a work from home job when you need it most.

One of the first things you should do when looking for a work at home job is expect there to be competition. Understand there are several people looking for remote jobs. If you’re looking to find one right now, you have got to be diligent and make sure you are at the top of the candidate pool.

Make Sure your Skills are On Point

Your resume is the first opportunity you have to showcase what you can do. Make sure you use it to highlight your most valuable skills. If you are looking for a job that requires a high typing speed, and you know that your typing skills are not the best, use an online typing test to work on your typing.

Another thing that’s important for work from home jobs is how your internet & computer functions. So make sure your system is setup to handle the job requirements. Speedtest.net gives a really good speed test. You can see if your internet is a high enough speed, and if your computer has enough storage space.

Back when I was first looking for a work at home job, there were companies that asked for you to perform a test through their system, to see how good your computer works. So make sure your equipment s going to be sufficient for the job you want to do.

If you’re in the situation where you’re thinking about doing a total career change, and trying to figure out how to find a work from home job, you want to be looking in some industries that are hot right now and are hot for work at home jobs.

Those being customer service, sales, IT, the medical field, marketing and finances, and consulting. If you’re interested in going into one of these fields make sure that you’re doing your research about the field, what salary expectations are and what skills you may need to enhance in order to get those jobs.

You can increase your skills quickly on Skillshare. For instance if you want to get a social media job, there are classes about Youtube, Instagram, editing, etc. Skillshare has a class that can help. Use some spare time to enhance your skills and make yourself a more appealing candidate.

Now. How to find work from home jobs?

Check with friends and family

Use your network! Tell people you already know that you’re looking for employment. A lot of times when companies are hiring, they send out emails to their current employees, asking for referrals. Sometimes those employees can get a kickback for getting friends or family members hired.

Make sure your network knows your skills, what you’re good at, and what you can do. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find new employment. Next, LinkedIn.

Get Active on Linkedin

LinkedIn is a jewel when it comes to building your business network. You literally can connect with hiring managers one-to-one, businesses one-to-one, and truly show them who you are and what you about on the platform.

LinkedIn actually has a job board where there are jobs that are posted. You can go there and build your base on the type of jobs you’re looking for, the skills that you’re looking for, or the companies and the region. They list jobs every single day over on LinkedIn. And it is an amazing resource to find work at home jobs.

Use Indeed to Search Work from Home Jobs

Indeed is an online search engine where you can find work at home jobs. This is a great place to find work at home jobs as long as you know what you’re looking for. You can go on there and type in the job title that you want, the region that you want to work in, and it will bring up work at home jobs. Now, Indeed usually has really good work at home jobs listed, but you have to be careful and research the companies you are applying to.

Sometimes there are companies that you want you to pay. They have network marketers on there, people that are trying to sell you stuff. So you got to be careful when you are looking at particular jobs. One thing I can say you can do is make sure you check out all employers on Glassdoor.

Glassdoor is an amazing resource because a lot of times employees go on there and comment about the employer, old employees, current employees, and they pretty much will tell you if it’s a good place to work or, they get all in the company business. So check out Glassdoor when you’re looking at a potential job, because you want to make sure that you stay safe, you’re keeping your information safe and that you’re getting a job that’s worth having.

Now, when you’re looking for a work at home jobs, you want to make sure that your search is thorough, fast and easy and a great way to do that is to sign up for lists that send the jobs to you.

The way I’m set up I can only give my energy to The way I’m set up I can only give my energy to a few things at a time. At the top of the year I was coming in hot and then boom….Omarion.

In the midst of feeling crappy I had all kinds of brand deals due, a launch to execute, and babies to take care of. It was A LOT!

When life be LIFEing it’s hard for me to focus on anything outside of my household. I’m fully present in real life so the virtual world gets put on pause. And I know that’s not the best idea when your building a business but…sanity!

Oh and passive marketing 😉

I finally have my energy back, and I’ve been posting on the Youtube channel and chatting with my email peeps…. I missed y’all.

Here’s to me getting it together and finding my way back.

Happy Monday y’all!!

PS. What’s up with all these spam comments and bots? 🤨

4 years ago I left my job with nothing! A month e 4 years ago I left my job with nothing!

A month earlier I realized I wasn’t happy. I was tired and frustrated with myself for living beneath my potential. Nothing was necessarily “wrong” I just knew there had to be more. I prayed and asked God to lead me into what was next.

Two weeks later I witnessed my coworker jack up my 3 year old and put her on the wall because she ran out of line and onto the playground too soon…..

Two days later my boss told me the state came in and saw she had me working in a position I wasn’t certified to be doing (nor getting the pay for 😒) and I needed to get it asap!

The morning of the test I woke up and realized I slept through my alarm, her multiple texts and the test! 🥴 I took that as my sign to move on. So I did!

At the time all I had was hope and a dream. I figured I could side hustle my way to what I was making then. All I knew was that my babies needed all of me, not some unhappy fraction of who I could really be for them.

Even though I had no clue what I was doing or how I was going to make it work, I did it anyway!

After getting up and calling my boss back to tell her I was gonna move on, I picked up my camera to document the moment.

A few days ago someone commented on that very video, I needed that in the moment. I realized I’ve come so far, did what I intended to do and am working toward the life that girl wanted! She’d be proud.

Thank you all for your continued support! I hope you know your journey to success may look a lil different in the beginning but trust yourself, something great is waiting on the other side of your decision!

I’m happy with how the week went, I was pretty productive with good a pace.

Today I’m out in these Friday streets doing Friday things and preparing for a brand shoot this weekend.

Ran in Homegoods & Hobby Lobby and topping it off with Chick fil A. I gotta make sure I throw away all evidence so my kids don’t see it tho. 🥴😩😂

The kids and I are gonna watch Sing 2 from the comfort of our couch this evening. Thank you @singmovie

Anyway, Happy Friday yall!

It’s the first Monday of the month and all I’m It’s the first Monday of the month and all I’m thinking about is “How can I be better than I was last year!”

I’m done with doubting myself because I can do anything with God on my team.

I’m done with imposter syndrome because “I did that” the receipts are in!

This year I’m getting back fine 😜 aggressively delegating, staying consistent, living more, complaining less and gratefully celebrating every single moment.

That’s it. Those are the plans.

I hope you find the courage to do the same!
