Stay at Home Mom Schedule & Productivity Hack
Ever felt like you aren’t doing enough with your time, but you just can’t figure out a realistic system that you can follow to be productive as a stay-at-home mom? I constantly get asked “Nakisha, how do you get it all done as a single mom with four kids and a blog and all the other things that you do?“.
Well, today I’m going to go over my time-blocking schedule that helps me get more done and walk you through how to set one up for yourself. It’s something you have all asking me about for such a long time, and I will reveal it all in this post!
Productivity Hacks For Busy Moms
I feel like I always hear people say “I’m so busy, I don’t have time, I’m so tired” – all these things as to why they can’t pursue the things that they want to do. But today I’m going to help you by breaking down how I plan my day for maximum output with minimal effort.
Just a quick note about how I do my time blocking – I break down my schedule in a very specific way, and I only give myself three tasks in each of my blocks because I don’t want to overwhelm myself and I don’t want to disappoint myself. I want to feel accomplished when I get all three tasks on my list done so I can celebrate those wins and then move on to the next block.

My Block Schedule For A Productive Day
EARLY MORNING BLOCK
The first part of my day is what I consider my early morning “vlog” which runs from about 6 a.m to about 9 am. I start my day off by freshening and then getting dressed. I found that getting ready and dressed for the day ahead makes a world of difference. I feel so much more prepared for my day. Then I head into the living room and open up those blinds to let in all that sunshine, joy, and peace.
After I like to sit down and start my morning devotional. I use the Bible app on my phone, and do the devotionals available there or use a daily devotional. Because I’ve been really focusing on entrepreneurship and money lately, I pick a few relevant devotionals devoted to that.
Mindset is incredibly important when you’re trying to do anything big and bold, so taking the time to sit with my thoughts and focus on my mindset helps me to stay on the right track and set a positive note for the day.
I then make myself a big hot cup of coffee and head over to my dining room table (or home office) to get in my focused work for the day. Here is where I dedicate about an hour or two writing content for my site: this can be anything from new blog posts, newsletters for my list, creating digital products and so on.
When it comes to writing good blog content fast, I try bulk-creating content – a strategy that I recommend and that you can learn from this blog writing challenge.

MORNING BLOCK
Then we start the morning block. This is when I get the kids up and get our day started (it usually takes me a minute to get them up, so I factor this in). After having a quick breakfast, we get started with our school day where I give a dedicated hour to each of my little ones with their school work, as we are homeschooling this year.
This hour is scheduled in even in the summer or when school is normally off, as I always try to incorporate something academic and educational into their days, which is followed by their free time.
AFTERNOON BLOCK
The kid’s free time is the time they can play with their toys, use their devices, and do whatever they feel like doing. They often pick to play with these magnetic building blocks, which I think is a great way to be creative and helps them with their science and math skills.
It’s then time to go outside. I love to take them outside during this time of the day, as it really helps them to just get out of the house and get some sun and some fresh air. The girls really enjoy playing with this sidewalk chalk, as there are so many ways to put it to use, and then they often play hopscotch and foursquare too.
LATE AFTERNOON BLOCK
We then head back inside for a healthy afternoon snack that’s refreshing yet satisfying. The kids often take turns picking their snack of the day, and because we’ve been doing the same thing for so long, my kids already know the routine.
Honestly, consistency is the biggest contributor to my productivity. It’s a scary simple way to get your kids to cooperate so you can get things done especially if you work from home.
And then the kids go down for some much-needed quiet time. They can read a book or they can watch a TV show, anything they choose as long as they are relaxing and quiet.
This is when I’m usually recording my YouTube videos or voiceovers for my YouTube channel. And when extracurricular activities become a thing again, we’ll be doing that during this time, but until then we just hang out until it’s time for dinner.
EVENING BLOCK
The evening block consists of serving up dinner, and bath time for each and every one of the kids. This is a great opportunity to give each some one-on-one time, or spend some time as a family watching a movie before I get them ready for bed.
Once the kids are in bed, my night shift begins!
NIGHT BLOCK
I first set myself up with my shower routine, a little sweat treat or a hot drink, and then make myself comfortable to start working for the next couple of hours. This is the time when I can work on my business uninterrupted, so I take full advantage of it.
This is where I am typically working on the YouTube channel, scripting videos, doing keyword research, and all kinds of things that need to be done behind the scenes of creating and posting content, and running an online business.
Included in that is managing my Instagram account, engaging with my lovely followers, answering DMs, figuring out my pictures for the week and handle my social media content calendar.
I typically work for two to three hours before I call it a night, and either listen to a podcast or read a book or my Bible to close the night out on a positive vibe.
Why My Block Schedule Keeps Me Productive
But ultimately, my time blocking routine is about creating a plan that works for me and focusing during that time period on the handful of tasks that I allocated to it. It’s about getting up every single day, doing the same thing over and over and over so that you can get the results that you are looking for.
It’s often not the most glamorous thing to do, but almost always it’s the one thing that’s going to get you results. I speak from experience!
