As a full time content creator and blogger I’ve learned how important it is to own a quality camera to learn and capture good photography. Complimenting your writing with eye catching photos will always help keep your readers engaged and coming back to your content. So finding a good blogging camera should definitely be on your to do list.
If you’re a blogger looking for a camera to add to your content creation arsenal let me help you out. I want to help you find the best camera for you. Now this is no tech blog so I will be breaking these cameras down in a way that’s easy to understand. Because when I was looking I had no clue what a megapixel was and really didn’t care….I just wanted my pictures to look crispy. So, let’s talk about some of the cameras I’ve used, owned, loathed, and loved.

What’s the Best Blogger Camera?
The one that works best for you.
No matter how amazing a camera is, choosing one should be about your needs, your technical ability and your budget. There will be a lot of cameras that sound amazing based on the specs or influencers hyping them up but, they may not be right for you. When choosing your camera be realistic about what you really need and base your buying decision on that. Remember you can always upgrade later.
When I first started blogging 5 years ago, there was no budget for a blogging camera. I started taking pictures for my blog with my iPhone 5. I eventually upgraded to an iPhone 8. As I grew my site and started partnering with brands, I was ready to upgrade my blogging camera so that I could get better opportunities. All of the bloggers I looked up to had amazing photography and I wanted to be seen on their level.
After 2 years of blogging I invested in my first DSLR camera. I purchased the Canon EOS Rebel T5i which was a few years old at the time. That’s my first piece of advice. Don’t feel the need to buy the latest and greatest camera on the market. That T5i worked great for me. I used it with the kit lens until investing in the Canon 50mm/1.8 which gave me a much better photo. The image was sharp and I had the coveted blurry background. I felt official.
This was the camera I used to learn how to take photos. You couldn’t tell me I wasn’t a photographer. I learned composition, lighting, color science….I really got familiar with the Canon system. After becoming proficient and pushing it to the max, I made the leap into a more robust mirrorless camera for blogging.
I am still using that mirrorless camera today and I absolutely love it!
